What is Gently Loved?

Hello and Happy February! February is the month of all things love so I want to express my appreciation for my fabulous customers and say thank you for being here. Cherry Rose Cottage customers are the absolute best and I am grateful for each of you!

This month I'm going to talk a little bit about my definition of gently loved. With the exception of the Wild Cherry line of products which includes handmade and vintage items, all products at Cherry Rose Cottage are preowned. All preowned items are chosen using a specific combination of criteria to bring you quality items at prices that are 30-80% off retail. All products go through a multiple step, intensive inspection process before being listed for sale. This process begins at the sourcing location and continues through the time the items are packaged to await purchase by that special customer.

So how do I define "gently loved"? Gently loved means, after multiple inspections, I did not find any major flaws, such as holes, stains, missing buttons, etc. It does not mean the item is perfect. Preowned items may still have small flaws or tiny imperfections. Any issues I see will be noted in the condition description on the listing page, and, if possible, photographed for your consideration. If the condition description states "gently loved" with no additional notes, it means I did not see any notable issues during the inspection process. I don’t use terms such as "excellent, "good," etc. to describe items because everyone has their own perception of these terms and mine may not be the same as yours. I simply state the facts and exactly what I see.

Items with small visible flaws may still be listed for sale. If the item is usable and I feel someone would still want it, I carefully describe whatever issue it may have.  Some items may go directly into the clearance category which contains items at up to 90% off retail. Issues will still be clearly noted, but because of the discounted prices, clearance items are not eligible for return. The clearance category also contains products which may not have notable flaws but are reduced to make room for new treasures in the shop.  Always be sure to read the condition description carefully and view the photos so you are aware of all the details before you purchase.

Once inspected, items are cleaned and/or steamed as appropriate before being listed and packaged for sale.  Cherry Rose Cottage does not use scented cleaning products or scented dryer sheets.  Since the perception of fragrance varies greatly from person to person, I can't promise products are 100% fragrance free, but I do my best to make sure they are as fragrance free as possible, and I never add "extra" fragrance or scent to any item.  If an item has a fragrance after cleaning and I believe it is still suitable for sale, I will note the fragrance in the item condition on the listing page. You will find very few items listed with fragrance noted because fragrance is the quickest way for an item to automatically be disqualified for sale.

While my inspection process is time consuming, your trust and satisfaction as a customer are of the utmost importance to me. I never take your trust or your shopping dollars for granted.
